eBay Sales Log Spreadsheet v1.6 Update
Posted January 20th, 2010 by Ryan Olbe Spreadsheet Updates Add commentsToday I've updated my eBay Sales Log spreadsheet to version 1.6. Here's what's been added.
New field for Sales Tax
I've added a new option for Sales Tax. If you charge sales tax on eBay you can now enter the tax percentage you charge in the Tax % column. The yellow column is where you enter your tax rate (for example 6%) and the red column is where you'll see the calculated tax amount show up. Since tax laws vary by state you are given the option of choosing whether to tax just the item price or the item price plus the S&H charge. If you don't charge tax you can either type 0% or leave this field blank.

New Year-To-Date Tax Totals
I've also modified the Year-To-Date worksheet to show your total tax collected for each month and for the year in total.
New option for "Default Sales Tax %"
If you do charge tax on your eBay items you can now enter a default tax rate to avoid having to enter it for each individual item. You can always override this default amount by typing in any number into the Tax % field.

New option to choose whether to tax S&H
This option only applies to those people using the Sales Tax option. You can choose to apply your tax rate to your item price or to your item price plus your S&H charge. Different states have different rules regarding taxing S&H so you will have to check with your state to see which option applies to you.

New option for "Default Starting Price"
If you sell a lot of items in Auction Style Format and you always start them at the same price you can now save yourself some time by entering a Default Starting Price. The Default Starting Price will be used whenever you select "Auction Format" and leave the Starting Price field blank.

New option for "Default Commission" and "Default Commission %"
If you're a Trading Assistant you always charge the same commission to your clients you can now enter it as your default here. This default will be used whenever you leave the commission field blank in the Sales Log. You can enter both a default commission amount (a flat dollar amount charged on all items) and a default commission percentage (a percentage of the final selling price of the item). These are combined to find your total commission amount.

Indicate that an item didn't sell by setting it's Qty to 0
Before you had to set your Ending Price to $0 to specify that your item didn't sell. Now you have a choice. You can either set your Ending Price to $0 or you can set your Qty to 0 to specify that your item didn't sell. Setting either of these to 0 will now cause the spreadsheet to correctly calculate the fees for an unsold item.

Fixed bug that was causing "Start Price" and "Reserve Price" to appear disabled
When you specify your Listing Format as either Auction Style or List 5 Free, the "Starting Price", "Reserve Price" and "Buy It Now Price" columns will appear enabled. If you select eBay Stores or Fixed Price Format, these fields will appear disabled because they only apply to "Auction Style" listings. To specify your "Buy It Now" or "Best Offer" Price for an eBay Stores or Fixed Price item you would fill in the "Ending Price" field. The BIN (Buy It Now) column is only used to add "Buy It Now" to an "Auction Style" listing.

It will say version 1.2 (because that's the version of the main spreadsheet), but if you download it you'll find version 1.6 of the Sales Log included in the ZIP file.
